I’ve been meaning to devote a week to boarding pass / plane ticket invitations for a while now. I have lots to catch up on!

Rarely do I ever do one exactly as one before. Everyone puts their own twist on the concept, sometimes subtle, sometimes pretty damatic.

Linda liked Helina’s invitations but wanted to keep the invitations more traditional and formal while still incorporating a travel theme. I love how simple they are…they would look amazing in Letterpress too.

Linda had me create some really fun accessories for her reception, which I’ll save for “Extras Week” at some point!

Paula had a destination wedding right here in the U.S. – no passports required! So boarding pass invitations were a fun way to invite guests. Paula liked the damask from some of my pocket invitations, so I incorporated it along with a New Orleans’ fleur-de-lis.

The information is arranged a little differently on these and I love how it worked out. The first boarding pass has travel details with accommodation information on the back. The second served as the formal invitation with a tear-off rsvp postcard.

{ With any luck, one day I’ll be able to take better photos of my invitation designs. } Speaking of photos …

The quantity needed is NOT the same as your total guest head count.

The most common error made when ordering wedding invitations is looking at the wrong quantity. Even while you’re gathering quotes, you’ll need an accurate estimate because of the impact it can have on pricing.

This outline should give you an accurate count and help avoid costly ordering errors.

Order far too many and you could have added a fun upgrade instead of having 50 extras sit in a box for eternity!
Order too few and last-minute rushed reprints could be costly.

If you’ve priced invitations from independent stationers and your quantity changes, be sure to request a new estimate. Doubling the quantity may not double the total cost. At the same time, halving the quantity usually won’t reduce the total by half, but I’ll save that explanation for another day.

I’ve created several Bar and Bat Mitzvah passport invitations over the years and really need to get more of them posted on the blog. Here’s a fun Bat Mitzvah invitation from last year to check out too.

I loved working with Lane’s mom to create these! When you’re working with a family that owns an event entertainment service that specializes in themed events, you know it’s going to be a fun project!

Custom foil-stamped covers with a modern cruise ship put a great twist on the usual passport cover design.

Silver envelopes lined with dark blue shimmer made them that much more luxurious.

Love the lighter blue used inside, highlighted with stamps from the guest of honor’s favorite destinations.
