Boarding Pass Week :: Simple & Elegant Gold

I’ve been meaning to devote a week to boarding pass / plane ticket invitations for a while now. I have lots to catch up on!

Rarely do I ever do one exactly as one before. Everyone puts their own twist on the concept, sometimes subtle, sometimes pretty damatic.

Linda liked Helina’s invitations but wanted to keep the invitations more traditional and formal while still incorporating a travel theme. I love how simple they are…they would look amazing in Letterpress too.

Linda had me create some really fun accessories for her reception, which I’ll save for “Extras Week” at some point!

Old School Boarding Pass Invitations

Maggie’s plane ticket invitations are a little blast from the past with the old computer font use liberally throughout.

A single card with a tear-off rsvp is super charming with a wrap-around holder and vintage airplane monogram seal!

Jessica’s Engagement Party Boarding Pass Invites

Jessica originally ordered the boarding passes to use as her save-the-dates, but ultimately decided to use them for her engagement party invitations instead, and had a very clear vision of what she wanted: a Paris and love theme with romantic stamps, in red and blue so that they coordinated with the ever-famous air-mail envelopes.

If there’s one thing that gets attention in the mail, it’s an air-mail envelope. The tear-off rsvp card makes it simple for guests to reply, though I have heard stories about invitees not wanting to send it back!

Melissa’s Bright Flower Boarding Passes & Special Holder Too!

I was able to help Melissa out when the original designer she had booked suddenly went MIA, and I had so much fun working with her to create these invitations. She wanted a bright, bold, tropical and flowery boarding pass set. Her orange and pink color combination and hibiscus theme made it easy!

Another unique feature is the clear frosted holder that can be used a variety of ways to hold the boarding passes, and custom return address labels for the envelopes. One of my new favorites! (I feel like I’m saying that a lot lately while I re-live the past year of invitations through blogging)…

Boarding passes can be slipped into the cut-out on the front of the frosted holder (think what you actually get at the airport), or placed into the two pockets inside.

Marine & Josh’s Boarding Pass Invitation

A boarding pass invitation with a tear-off response card is a great option if you want something custom and unique, but also simple and budget-friendly. The tear-off rsvp needs only a post-card rate stamp (28¢ postage). These invitations are as great for weddings as they are for bar & bat mitzvahs, sweet sixteen parties, or rehearsal dinner invitations (especially if your wedding invitations were of the passport variety)!

Marine wanted to incorporate a Marlin into her stamp for her Florida wedding, and picked a great blue envelope that has a VERY subtle marbled effect.

Jennifer’s Passport Save the Dates

Jennifer wanted the save the dates for her Jamaica wedding to stay within her sun/sea/sand color scheme. My favorite aqua blue metallic paper and creamy sand metallic papers were perfect. The starfish passport stamps are a hint at the invitations to come … wait ’till you see those!

Boarding pass invitations are an obvious choice when you’re having a destination wedding. But I also do many boarding pass and passport invitations when the location is close to the bride and groom, and most of the GUESTS will be traveling to the wedding.

When Helina asked for gold paper, I sent her the soft gold swatches that are most often selected. But when she came back and said, “what do you have that’s GOLD GOLD … BRIGHT GOLD?”, I knew the perfect color. This metallic paper is bright, sunny, and so cheery!

Christine and Scotts Multi Boarding Pass Invitations

About half of my new styles are born because someone has asked for them specifically. This Multi Boarding Pass Invitation is one of them and I hope to do more!

Christine was also referred to me by Janice at Destination Wedding Store. For her wedding in the Dominican Republic, she wanted to include lots of information for her guests and loved the Boarding Pass style. She ended up with three boarding passes, all held together by a folder which is adorned by a seal with their initials and the starfish motif which was also carried out through each boarding pass.

The folder opens to the first boarding pass with the traditional invitation wording. The next card features facts about the destination, and the final card directs guests to their wedding travel planner and also has a tear-off RSVP postcard.
